Axie Infinity STOPS SLP Rewards in Origins
The Axie Infinity ecosystem starts 2026 with a seismic shift. Sky Mavis has officially announced that Smooth Love Potion (SLP) rewards in the Origins game mode will cease completely starting January 7, 2026.
This drastic measure responds to a critical need: the fight against bot farming and the long-term stabilization of the economy.

The End of an Era for Origins
For a long time, Origins was the primary source of SLP for many players. However, it also became the main target for automated farms extracting value from the ecosystem without contributing to it.
Jeff "Jihoz" Zirlin, Sky Mavis co-founder, explained that this decision is part of a broader strategy of "restructuring and re-imagining the Axie economy."
- The Problem: The current design allowed for massive exploitation by bots.
- The Immediate Solution: Cut SLP issuance to stop economic bleeding while working on deeper design solutions.

What Does This Mean for Players?
For the legitimate player, this might feel like a tough blow in the short term, eliminating a direct income source. However, the goal is to protect the value of assets (Axies) and the token over the long run.
Sky Mavis has indicated that development of new features for Origins is paused to focus resources on other projects and this economic re-engineering. 2026 is shaping up to be a year of bold and possibly experimental moves to reinvigorate the ecosystem.

It is a time of transition. The era of easy "farming" in Origins is over; the era of a more sustainable economy (hopefully) begins now.
